Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?

This game mimics the TV show "Are you Smarter than a 5th Grader", but adds its own twist.

First, there are prizes, which you can customize by modifying the prizes table in the database. Please Fork the space first before you host a game!

Secondly, you can have as many players as you'd like, which makes it great for parties, team activities in an office, or family events!

It is best played when everyone is in the same room; but can also be played online as well.

How to play

  • You must register as a player using your NodeRun account. The game walks you through the process. It's more fun when multiple players register.
  • Click New Game to reset the question and the player scores.
  • Select the contestant in the grid or let the game randomly select a contestant by clicking the button in the top-right corner.
  • Have the contestant select a grade & subject. Allow the contestant to answer the question within the given timeframe. Once the time runs out, reveal the answer.
  • Then select 'You are correct!' OR 'Sorry, No Points!'. The player's score and their current prize assignment is displayed in contestant grid.
  • Once you run out of questions, you can move on to the bonus round for more questions.
  • When the bonus round is over, export the player list, which will show the corresponding points and prizes, and ultimately reveal who in your group is Smarter than a 5th Grader!

Enjoy the game and comment on this NodeRun space to let us know what you think!
